There is something about Flickr that is tragic and makes us sad as people passionate about web.
It came into existence in 2004 and besides its minimalistic design and features was known for its long yet witty tagline “almost certainly the best online photo management and sharing application in the world.” Then, Yahoo came around with its bag full of money and acquired the hot property. People were apprehensive but accepted the fact eventually.
Majority of the comments on Flickr feedback forum – which was active until yesterday but started showing photo of a young girl trying to drag a panda(new Flickr is active again), asserted that the new changes were just thrown at their face. Flickr members are complaining that Yahoo should have started a conversion before going ahead with such a big makeover.
Some users even chided Flickr team for not keeping the option of opting out from the new changes.
Here are some Points :
Design and layout dilemma
Low on usability
Community engagement
User communication
Give a thought to human psychology
